The Summer Roaming concludes with the monthly Trip to The Staggs, Musselburgh. Only Glasgow Curry will do. Steve and Mags didn’t take much persuasion to join Hector at The New Karahi Palace (51-53 Nelson Street, Glasgow, G5 8DZ). Ayaz was there to greet us, Chef Rashid was in his Usual Spot.
Lamb Chops
Hector has been missing these, Two Portions, with a guarantee of Nine Pieces was the order. Two Portions of Lamb Karahi – in The Hector Style – with Mags’ Aloo Gosht completing the order. Chapattis, One each to start, we’ll see what unfolds.
The Token Salad starts us off
Ayaz brought the Complimentary Salad and no Raita. Sometimes the Salad impresses, not today, this was a Token Nibble.
The Chops were as Wonderful as always, Spicy, Well Flavoured. Still no Raita. They didn’t last long and we were straight into The Mains.
One Plate of Aloo Gosht and Two Sizzling Karahi with Lamb on-the-bone and Minimal Masala – Hector’s Ideal Curry. The Familiar Flavours were there, enhanced by the Fresh Ginger Strips. The Kick was not as Intense as in recent visits, still, this is The Hand of Rashid, Perfect Curry.
Steve may be becoming Blasé with his visits here. Absolutely Fine. Not as Intense, Not as Hot.
Hector’s reply – I’ll be back tomorrow.
Mags’ Aim is always to eat Half, Takeaway Half. Tonight she managed this, last time she wolfed the lot. I loved it – was Mags’ pronouncement.
Only One Chapatti per person this evening. I congratulated Ayaz on the Quality of the Chapattis served here. They are Truly Special, Perfect Girth, Perfect Size
The Bill
£36.10. No more need be said.
The Aftermath
In the late Summer Glasgow Evening, Hector amused himself crossing the Clyde by taking some time-exposures. If anything, this should show The Reader just how close Nelson St. is to The City Centre.
Was there Tuesday evening and had similar experience. Purvey was fine but something missing from the usual “Hector Style”.
Hector replies:
Maybe we need to emphasise on every visit what the precise – Hector – requirement is…
