The India Club at Hotel Strand Continental – Westminster, London

The India Club – Hotel Strand Continental – 143 Strand, London WC2R 1JA

Located in the heart of Westminster, The India Club was reportedly once the staff canteen for those working at the Indian Embassy across the street. Once can be served in the lounge bar on the first floor, I have only seen it occupied once.

On the second floor lies the restaurant. The décor is simple, spartan even, one is here for the food, which is of course, authentic Indian Cuisine.

There are also rooms and dorms in the budget hotel which must lie above. A 1940s colonial-style bar and Indian restaurant – is how the venue is described.

The restaurant is open daily from noon until 15.00, then from 18.00 until 23.00 (Sunday from 17.00).

London portions – means that unless one has a Starter, for some appetites, a main course alone may not be enough. Hector has overcome this by sharing the third portion.

The menu is not vast, it covers the bases. Bhuna Lamb – Chef Special, without the Capsicum garnish, has become Hector’s standard order.
