A Text Conversation between Hector and Shkoor @Yadgar (148 Calder St., Govanhill, Glasgow, G42 7QP)
16.30, Wednesday, August 13 – Shkoor, Two of my young protégés wish to join me to enjoy the Yadgar Experience. Can you please Feed Three? Fish Starter, Karahi Gosht … with Bones.
Young protégées?
If you read a humble blog re-Akash, Helensburgh, the Management refer to them as my children … Eleanor and Jamie, colleagues.
Are they adherent to the same laws of the universe as you?
Before Hector converted them to The True Ways, both were known to eat the sacrilegious meat … chicken .. they are now both pure.
And it came to pass that Hector, Eleanor and Jamie were assembled at Yadgar Kebab House for what is The Great Glasgow Curry Experience. Eleanor has dined here before with Dr. Stan (whatever happened to him?), this was Jamie’s First Visit.
Being Fed – means a Mass of Food is provided, the Flat Fee is currently £15.00 per head. The aforementioned Akash holds an – Order what you wish, a la Carte – on a Wednesday and Thursday for the same fee. Hector’s thoughts are turning to Helensburgh, the Holiday is nearing a conclusion. Fear not, Dear Reader, there is another week to go and more Curry Opperchancities. En route to Yadgar I arranged Saturday’s Treat at Lasani Grill round the corner.
Naveed is back!
He has been on holiday for the past weeks. Other people have holidays?
Today, Yadgar was busy. Four Tables of Chaps all enjoying The Yadgar Fayre. Pizza was flying out the door in the continuous Takeaway Trade. As the original Diners departed, the Tables were filled once more. One day Hector will arrive and not get a seat, One Day.
The Poppadoms and Spiced Onion were brought moments before the Array of Dips and the Salad. No Olives today. This was The Prelude to Portions of Scottish Haddock cooked a-la- Yadgar. Oven-baked, Spiced, with a Crusty Top, One could easily leave after this feeling Satisfied. There’s More, of course.
The Large Karahi arrived as we completed the Fish, Immense, Beautiful, all for us.
No discussion had been made about Accompaniments, and so the Full Array was provided – Naan, Two Chapattis and a Plate of Vegetable Rice – with – Oops! As a Special Treat, A Side of Gobi Curry too.
Enough.
I held the Cauliflower aloft and pointed out that I am constantly amazed at how The Chef can produce a Vegetable Curry with the same Intense Flavours as The Lamb.
Having enjoyed this Wonderful Punjabi-style Lamb Curry some Fifty Times, or more, there is little more to be said – Yay! Today’s was as Good as it gets. It remains intriguing how the Top can be so Wonderful and the Oily Base more-so, a feature that Jamie and Eleanor were encouraged to appreciate.
Eleanor admitted Defeat First, Jamie struggled onwards. In the end there was a Modest Takeaway. Where is Dr. Stan?
Eleanor – One of the Tastiest Curry(s) I’ve ever had.
Jamie – That’s the First Time I’ve had Lamb on-the-bone. It was succulent and Tasty, then there were all the Flavours from the Curry. I would try it again.
When Hector first met them, they ate Chicken Curry…
Chef Arshad came out from the Kitchen to check all was well. He knows.
The Bill
£45.00. What else could it be? This includes the Drinks.
The Aftermath
Everyone was busy. Suffice to say – Our Thanks – were expressed to Naveed.
