A Whole Five Weeks since the Last Holiday, and some were in a Joyous Mood as the Glasgow September Weekend was under-way. A Visit to The Akash (45 Sinclair St, Helensburgh, G84 8TG) was promised when The Chaps last dined there earlier this month. An order was texted in giving a Thirty Minute warning, alas Lamb on-the-bone was not available this evening. Not Soup – was my Final Instruction, they know what Hector likes. Anthony who has not featured in Curry-Heute since the Sri Lankan Curry Night at Curry on The Hill would have what Hector was having. Jamie wished Lamb Exotica. Again we would be Two Jamies, Jamie #2 would order Chicken Patia when he finally arrived.
Giovanni makes a First Appearance – Chicken Kashmiri. Chapattis, a Garlic Chilli Naan and a Keema Paratha would be the Accompaniments. Hector still did not know exactly what was coming. Ashgar assured me it would be Special.
Poppadoms and Dips came quickly. It’s a Thursday and so this would not be the only Starter. The Order all you wish from The Menu for £15.00 was in operation tonight, the Tandoori Mixed Starter had to be enjoyed once more, this is Decadence.
Sharing makes it OK. With Succulent Lamb Chops, a Moist Seekh Kebab and Chicken Various, this was Joy on the Palate. It was hoped there would still be room for The Mains.
A Spinach Karahi – Hot & Dry – was set before Anthony and Hector. Thick with Methi, and with a Spice Level within Hector’s Tolerance, one can see this Dish would be too much for some. The Seasoning was Perfection. This was a Very Demanding Curry and actually not what I would consider to be my #1 Curry Choice these days, however it is – The Hector Special. Wonderful.
The Keema Paratha was Dry and almost Crispy, a Very Good interpretation. Hector was in Curry Heaven, only one thing would mar the visit, no way could the Curry be eaten and the Last Train caught. Takeaway? No chance.
Jamie #2 described his Chicken Patia thus – Hit all the Spots a Patia should. If you were walking in off the street and this is what came... Didn’t he?
Giovanni was minimalist with his comments – That was quite smooth.
Jamie disappeared suddenly, he was tired. Before doing so he did pay up and had Ashgar agree to dedicate the Exotica to him. Then he was gone.
The Bill
£79.00 for the Remaining Four. Hector suspects not everyone was drinking Sparkling Water.
The Aftermath
Giovanni managed to haggle over the Taxi Price on Hector’s behalf. A Saving.
Hector has a Long Weekend, Curry is bound to feature … heavily.
