Lamb Chettinad Today
Hector accompanied Marg to the Glockenspiel Café for Breakfast. As the Ibis gave an offer I couldn’t refuse, we did not have the usual Royal Breakfast. After Marg’s Breakfast it was time for Hector to be indulged. Again there was the walk down from Marienplatz towards Isartor and the Indian Mango (Zweibrückenstraße 15, 80331, München)
Marg was greeted by Mr. Jolly Kunjapu as we entered, Mein Host – Herr Battra – remembered Marg too. Jolly would serve us throughout the visit. Lamb Chettinad was the order, Trocken, Scharf and Heisse. Steve had related that his Lamb Chettinad yesterday was not as Steaming Hot as he would prefer. Marg was quick to point out that I had possibly asked for my Curry to be Double Spicy, we would see.
Jolly brought the Food himself and informed the Two Co-Diners, a Japanese Couple, that he could not have served them a Curry as Spicy as he had given me. Jolly mentioned my Website to them as an explanation for the Intensity of Photography on our side of the room. The Calling Card was given to the Couple made it known how much they enjoy Indian Food.
Spicy? Indeed. This Chettinad would be taking no prisoners. The Tender Lamb was served in Relatively Large Pieces. The Masala was as Thick as yesterday’s Fish equivalent. As Wonderful as this Dish is, the Fish packs even more Flavour. By now I was wondering if the could be a second visit – Heute!
Jolly departed and bade farewell, until April. I ate on, Hector was Glowing, loving every Morsel. This Interpretation of Curry is Unique, to come to München and not Dine at the Indian Mango would now be unthinkable. (Note they are closed on Mondays and over New Year.)
The Bill
€20.55. This included Two Glasses of Sparkling Water.
The Aftermath
We picked up Steve and Dr. Stan at the new Augustiner Wirtshaus (am Dom), and along with Clive and Maggie headed for an afternoon at Tegernsee. There would hopefully be a Curry-Heute #2.
Hi
The reason why I chose this restaurant is quite coincident. That day is the third day I stay in Germany, and I spent three days just eating bread and cold cuts (Even the breakfast served in hotel is “cold”). I’m fed up with those cold food!!!
We went to the famous deutsches museum on Sunday in which the Indian Mango is near by. I was really hungry and needed hot food with rice!!!
Hi
My wife and I is the Japanese couple you mentioned in the article. Actually, we are from Taiwan and my wife is a immigrant New Zealander. haha
We both love the meal that Indian mango served. Especially the rice they cooked is basmaty rice which is rarely seem in Taiwan.
Hector replies:
Hi Sherwin, it was good to meet you both. It was apparent that you were enjoying your food. How did you come to choose the Indian Mango? There are many other venues you could have gone to, however, this place is now legendary.
I find it strange that for you, Basmati Rice is such a treat, especially in SE Asia.
Yer man served me same dish when I reneged on the fish. Thoroughly enjoyed although post Perlach, who knows how I got there or back to Taufkirchen?
Hector replies:
We tried the new city centre – Perlach. Closed, it was 22.00. Who needs Bier in München when there’s Curry?
