It’s not the First Time Steve and Hector have Dined Twice in One Day at the Indian Mango (Zweibrückenstraße 15, 80331, München). It was 20.00, eight hours since I last ate, an afternoon at Tegernsee and definitely time for another Fisch Chettinad. Marg, Dr. Stan, Clive and Maggie were of the same mind. Steve would stick to Lamb Chettinad.
The Young Waiter, who has worked here for a couple of years, greeted us on entry and served us this evening. Einmal Lamb Chettinad, Dreimal Fisch Chettinad, Trocken und Scharf, Zweimal Normal. One may imagine the horror when in good time he appeared with – Chicken, Three Portions of Scharf Chicken Chettinad. Presumably Two more would follow. Oops.
Who eats Chicken Curry?
There was no fuss, it meant we had a further wait and the Staff would be having Chicken Chettinad for Supper. Mein Host, Herr Battra, apologised too, no need, mistakes happen. It was 21.00 when the Five Fisch and One Lamb Chettinad made their appearance. Meanwhile Clive had been nibbling an Aloo Paratha which had arrived too hot to touch. Excellent, remarked, Clive, there’s half a potato in there.
The Fish Chettinad was not as Spicy as yesterday’s and was certainly mild compared to this morning’s Lamb. Steve was in agreement that the Portions have shrunk as he once again tucked into his Lamb. Not as I remember it – was Dr. Stan’s verdict. He is correct, this Dish has changed. Marg enjoyed the Crunchiness from the Breadcrumbs on the Fish. Well worth waiting for, lovely and crunchy, full of flavours, delicious.
In addition to the mass of Inclusive Boiled Rice, a Small Bowl of Chopped Green Chillies was brought from the Kitchen, the Expected Kick was restored. The Curry was devoured, as Sadness on its completion, no more Fisch Chettinad for Six Months.
The Bill
€100.55. Some had Bier, Marg had Mango Lassi, Hector stuck to Sparkling Water until…
The Aftermath
Mango Liqueur was offered and accepted. Souvenir Mango Keyrings were given to all as we departed. A memorable evening was about to become unforgettable.
Dr. Stan agreed to visit the Hofbräuhaus, a Venue he has traditionally despised. I convinced him the atmosphere was nothing like it used to be. As we took our seats I spotted and Old Acquaintance – Rheinhardt! He has a new band playing on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
How was Motorhead?
Hector replies:
Fortunately on this trip there was respite…
