It is not everyday that Alan and Hector are let loose in The City together, without The Women…
By 21.00 we had – Set the World to Rights, Hector also realised that it was conceivable that the planned Curry House – The New Karahi Palace (51-53 Nelson Street, Tradeston, Glasgow, G5 8DZ) could conceivably be running out of food by this time.
Qaiser brought the Menus, these were dismissed, Alan would be having the same as Hector. Lamb Chops to Start, then Lamb Karahi – Hector-style – Extra Methi and Seasoning. Chapattis would accompany.
All was well with the World. Two fellow Diners were tucking into, well, Hector doesn’t know, he wasn’t paying attention to them; the Size and Quantity of Pizzas that were being sent out for delivery was the Intriguing Entertainment. Omar is the new Delivery Chap, he doesn’t know Hector yet. No doubt Shan will still be encountered as a Diner cf last Saturday.
Qaiser came over – We have no Lamb.
Does this mean we are going to The Village?
We have Lamb Chops.
Lamb Chops followed by Lamb Chops Karahi it was.
There was an irony in bailing from here and walking two blocks along the road to The Village. Both Curry houses have currently 53 Reviews, the 54’th Review of the New Karahi Palace would be significant. The Village sells Excellent Curry – sometimes. The Karahi Palace is Consistently Wonderful. FYI, there may be 53 Reviews for both venues, however, pre-Curry-Heute, Hector was resident at The Village. Who knows how much Curry has been consumed there in the past decade?
Having grown to love – The Grot – that was the street level Village Cafe, Hector feels right at home in the very Basic, Four-tabled Karahi Palace. Who goes upstairs?
The Modest Salad and Dips were presented.
Lamb Chops
Four well-seasoned, well-spiced, well-cooked Lamb Chops. What more does a man need, Five? We have got the Perfect Chops. (sorry, Steven Wilson!)
There was as sensible gap between Starter and Mains. Ayaz was Chef for tonight, Rachid’s day off. Mein Host is also an Excellent Chef, so no worries here about consistency which is sadly the Hallmark of The Village, too many Chefs.
Lamb Chops Karahi
Qaiser brought The Goods. Five Chops! – served in the Classic Thick Masala-Mash that is the Root Attraction to Curry at this venue. Everything that can be said to describe the wonder of the Karahi served here has been written already. It is that good. With smile on face, and Chapatti in hand, there was no stopping The Hector. Alan recognises Quality too, he has been eating Curry for decades and has appeared in these pages since the inception of Curry-Heute. Shall we bring The Ladies here one night?
The Bill
£29.80. Starters and Main Course, twice.
The Aftermath
We decanted to a new venue until the last train to Helensburgh.
Helensburgh, how I do not miss thee. This is the longest period in the past thirty four years that this town has not been visited. Fear not, Ashgar and Rashid, September 12th looms. However, before that there is the South-east of Englandshire to visit, because – one can…
