Hector is back from India, Aberdeen, Marg has some Hockey Plans in Glasgow this afternoon. Glasgow? It has been a while. A Vegetable Curry at the Yadgar Kebab House (148 Calder St, Govanhill, Glasgow, G42 7QP) is what was hoped for, not always one of the Daily Specials. Chicken and Chickpeas remain at the bottom of the Order of Preference, no Vegetable Curry, I shall settle for Aloo Keema Mutter. A single Chapati would accompany, one is enough. N.B. no prices quoted as yet, there are no shocks at this venue.
Omar took the Order, Naveed is presumably still at Makka. I had to make sure it was appreciated that although Marg was present, she was not eating, yet. Eventually she could not resist ordering Kashmiri Tea, it takes a while.
Very refreshing, milky, with a nutty after-taste – was Marg’s description.
Keema Aloo Mutter
Which should come first, the Keema or the Aloo? Topped with Liberal, Fresh Coriander, this most Simple of Curry Dishes is ironic for one brought up in the West of Scotland. Without the Spice, this is Marg’s Favourite Meal. With the Spice, Curry! There was a Significant Kick today.
The Substantial Chapati was way better than anyhting seen in the last couple of weeks, Girth. Why is this? A Salad arrived a bit too late, sadly neither of us touched it.
The Meat appeared to be Chicken, Yay! Who was caring? The Dish was Very Dry with minimal Oil residue, the Antithesis of Curry served in India in recent days. The Coriander Blast completed the Experience. Hector is Home.
The Bill
£8.30. This included the Kashmiri Tea.
The Aftermath
Chef Arshad took a seat at the adjacent table, Lunch. He took his customary bow, India had to be mentioned. The Chef’s Choice? Biryani! It’s a matter of time.
Later today:
Marg came home with Pakora and Aloo Gobi from the New Anand, a Curry House which Hector used to frequent regularly but has yet to feature in Curry-Heute… Five days after India and Marg still has The Curry Lust.
