Poznan – Tavaa – The Return Visit

Poznan Tavaa Curry-Heute (1)The last two days have been as good as days can be in Polska, the irony is it all kicked off after Ricky and Stewart left me on Tuesday. Today, Lunch would be late, a long lie in was required after such a late night. Ricky contacted me to say they were having Fish in the centre of Town. Having checked their locus this was the Opperchancity to re-visit the Tavaa (Ratajczaka 30, Poznan, Polska). My review of last October’s visit is favourable, yet I do not recall enjoying it that much. I rely on the notes made at the time to write the Blog Entry, but then I had just come from Bydgoszcz whose Curry was found to be lacking.

Entering Tavaa before 15.00 the Restaurant was empty, I took the same table as last time. The Lamb Handi (34 Zl) with Jeera Rice (10 Zl) was today’s choice. I write little more, there was minimal engagement with the Waitress. She agreed to withhold the Green Peppers. Whilst I waited, two ladies came in and sat two tables away. They ordered in Polish.  One assumes that the Language of Curry is International, I could not make out a single item.

When the Rice was placed on the table I counted the grains, too much as usual. Then an Inclusive Naan appeared, Hector did not have the appetite for this. Perhaps this Curry would be First Aid.

The Masala in the Handi was Standard, Thick enough not to be criticised, and despite appearances, not too much of it; the joy of the Rice interstices soaking up the Masala once again.   The Tender Lamb was easily in double figures, there was a lot of Food on the table.

Poznan Tavaa Curry-Heute (9)With the Slightly Creamy nature of the Masala, no Chef would  Season this Curry to Hector’s Standards. The search for Spice began, that I had to look for it speaks volumes. The Lamb was the Source of what little Kick there was. The Ginger Strips at least added a Blast of Flavour but this Dish suffered from a lack of Complexity, no Surprises. The appearance made me anticipate Coconut, but none ever made its presence known.  Have the tastebuds been Rowing Jack-ed?

Poznan Tavaa Curry-Heute (10)I was asking myself  why this Curry was considered to be a Handi, Pasanda is how this would be rated in the West of Scotland.

Poznan Tavaa Curry-Heute (15)I have had better Curry in Poznan, I have had better Curry on these premises. When there only are three venues in a city, the chances are a return visit will occur.
