Thin Lizzy are due on stage in Bittigheim-Blissingen at 17.45, plenty of time to have Curry-Heute and rendezvous with Jonathan in Stuttgart. Indian Mango (Zweibrückenstraße 15, 80331, München) was the desired location for Lunch, they do not open until 12.00 on a Saturday.
Having checked out of Hotel Royal at 11.00 I had plenty of time to wander down Bayerstrasse. Marienplatz had a stage erected, there is a big celebration going on, the München 700 Hundred Years Jubilee, another reason to set up tables and serve Bier outside. I suppose this is Summer, it used to be warmer in Deutschland at this time of year.
Wandering through Viktualienmarkt just to add a deviation, I spotted the only München Acquaintance in The Hector Contact List – Olaf Schellenberg – he who supplies the UK Beer Festivals with Bier and the Allison Arms (Glasgow) fridge. I spent twenty minutes having a Coffee.

Arriving at Indian Mango bang on Noon, the tables were already set up outside, three tables inside were already occupied. It is never too early to have Curry. A Chap with a – Foodora – polo shirt would collect Curry and transport to… Indian Mango deliver, but not to Glasgow.
Herr Battra’s hand was outstretched, never mind that it was fifteen hours since I had last been on the premises.
There has been an effect post The India Trip earlier this year, ordering a Vegetable Curry has now become an option. The Mixed Vegetables as I have come to recognise this Standard Dish was available at €8.95. Herr Battra suggested that I should have the Vegetable Masala Madras (€9.95), I deduced that he would have considered this closer to my normal Chettinad. He confirmed that Coconut would not feature as many of the South Indian Dishes do at Indian Mango.
Fluids
My half litre of Sparkling Water was intended to be my only Liquid intake today. The last thing I needed was to be bursting at the Monsters of Rock Festival as I was for hours during The Great Western Express Festival – Grangemouth (Scotland) back in 1972. Forty Four years ago, my first gig outdoors. Pallas at Calderglen, East Kilbride in 1984 was my only other. (Pallas – were originally called – Rainbow – Ritchie Blackmore bought the name from them.)
Zehr Scarf, Ohne Geschmeckt
The Vegetable Masala Madras had the appearance of something worthwhile, far from Shorva, Thick with Tomato Seeds and Minimal Masala, in The Hector Style. Potatoes, Cauliflower, Tomatoes, Courgettes, and Carrots all featured, with Ginger Strips and Fresh Coriander toppings. The Vegetables were all cooked as I would wish them, a slight Firmness, who wants Pulped-Vegetables?
The Kick was Serious, Peppery. As I ate, I knew that others would be reaching for Liquid by now, never a smart move. This was one hell of a Spicy Curry! When the Ginger Blast came from the Strips, I realised just how little Flavour this Dish had. The Seasoning was almost non-existent, this may have been the root of the disappointment.
A Lesson Learned
Next time I feel like – Something Else – I’ll have the Standard Sweet Lunchtime Curry, perhaps two.
The Bill
€12.90. (£10.00) Vegetables are even cheaper than Fish.
The Aftermath
The Monsters of Rock Festival, Bietigheim-Bissingen.
This deserves a stand-alone post.
