Opened at the end of 2014, Annaya’s Grill House became Helensburgh’s fourth Curry House, the town could hardly support three. With the permanent demise of the much missed – Akash – the path was clear for Zak, Mein Host, to claim the title of – Best Curry House in Helensburgh. There are presently only two, plus Takeaways, a service which Annaya’s also offer in the adjacent corner premises.
Annaya’s has been the recipient of many awards at – The Scottish Awards – who wins awards? Then there was the fire which put a halt to matters, typical of Helensburgh, writes the retired school teacher from Lomond. Having retired during the first year of Annaya’s operation, visits to Helensburgh have been understandably fewer. This is the only Curry House in Helensburgh that Hector would consider visiting. The dining area is relatively small, booking at weekends is advised.

The Menu has the Mainstream, the varying Special Menu always offers something extra for the more discerning diner. Zak likes to be innovative and often features Spinach in his Curry, Hector prefers Methi. We have had our moments, especially when the devil’s ballast – Capsicum – turns up when withholding it has been specifically requested. Ask for your Curry how you want it, you might be lucky…or not.
