Chimes of India – 914-916 Sauchiehall Street, Finnieston, Glasgow G3 7 TF
Chimes of India opened in 2023 replacing – Horn Please – which was the previous outlet for Indian Cuisine on this site. Vini, Mein Host, and his brother, Chef Sharma once had The Wee Curry Shop (Ashton Lane), an offshoot of Mother India (Restaurant) which lies diagonally opposite Chimes of India. As experienced professionals, the welcome is always warm and sincere. Since my first review, people have mentioned how much they missed Vini from the previous business. Vini knows his customers.
Chimes of India is an independent, Mainstream Curry House, however, the solitary – Desi Curry – on offer – Desi Lamb on-the-bone, accompanied by Mushroom Rice, is what caused Hector to first celebrate this venue. Curry with a distinctive Flavour, not too much to ask, but in reality, rare. The quality of the Lamb is a stand out.
In subsequent visits more of the menu was sampled.
The premises are modest in size, yet there is ample space between the tables.
Salty Curry – Bulletproof Naan – Plastic Rice – Colourless Dal
Check the writings on the wall, there is a sense of humour here.
A full drinks license, quality food, and sensibly sized portions at competitive prices, makes Chimes of India stand out from other nearby venues in the West End.
Chimes of India opens daily at 16.00, 12.30 on Saturday & Sunday.
