Dessi Tadka – München – Deutschland

Dessi Tadka  –  Indian Street Food – Ottobrunner str. 31, 81737 München

This, the original Dessi Tadka, is located two minutes from Aidenbachstraße U Bahn. Take U3 from Marienplatz, eight stops, leave the station to the rear of the train.

Herr Madhu Battra made his first recorded appearance in Curry-Heute in November 2012. On that day at Indian Mango he was standing in as Chef. For the following nine years he was ever-present as Mein Host at what Curry-Heute has long been regarded as the finest Curry House in München. When Mr. Jolly Kunjappu, the founder of Indian Mango retired, so Herr Battra took his leave also, as the business changed hands.

It took the Hector three years to track down Madhu. In this time he had established four Curry outlets, three in München, one in Augsburg. As Madhu freely admitted, being near Siemenswerke and surrounding offices has brought more customers than ever visited Isartor.

Having brought the Chef from Indian Mango with him, the outstanding recipes were maintained. Their unique interpretation of Fisch Chettinad has set the standard, South Indian Cuisine no other venue discovered can match. Ask, it’s not on the menu! Indian Street Food, North Indian and Indo-Chinese fayre is also served at Dessi Tadka.

For Curry-Heute it is the availability of genuine Desi Curry which makes Dessi Tadka stand out. It was discovering the Home-Style Mutton Curry with Bone (€16.90) which enabled the Hector to track down Herr Madhu Battra!

Dessi Tadka seats seventy.  The seating area and counter front of shop give way to corridor seating, then a larger room with bar to the rear.

Dessi Tadka opens daily at 11.30 (noon: Saturday/Sunday) until 14.30, then from 17.30.
