New Cafe Reeshah – 455 Shields Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow G41 1NP
Hector was first made aware of Cafe Reeshah back in 2013. A Takeaway with two tables for dining in, and no – facilities – there were eight visits in the following four years. A modest establishment serving impressive Curry, the business changed hands at some point in 2018. The first visit to New Cafe Reeshah did not particularly impress. Although there was the promise that they would prepare whatever was asked for, there were no further visits until 2024.
A taxi driver advised – The Friends of Hector – in October 2024 that New Cafe Reeshah was a recommended venue, but for Takeaway. By December, there were enough – dining in – visits to add this venue to Glasgow’s Top Rated. Although other Dishes are featured below, it was one Curry which has earned the accolade: Lamb Lahori Karahi, served on-the-bone. This Curry is quite simply sublime and easily amongst the best served in the city of Glasgow.
Tell me one venue in Glasgow I haven’t been to, that is worth the effort.
With Arshad front of house, and the skill of his brother – Chef Amjad – busy in the kitchen, there is the full range of Desi Curry to be had.
Located in the west of Pollokshields, New Cafe Reeshah is open seven days a week from noon until late. In addition to Desi Curry, the fall backs – Burgers, Pizza, Kebap, the full Glasgow Fayre, is on offer at competitive prices.
The two tables remain, there is an understanding with the Bookmakers around the corner, if one is caught short. Despite the modest business model, food is served on proper plates with metal cutlery, a cut above many a Curry Cafe in Pollokshields.
