In March 2023, Hector spotted the recently opened Shahi Mahal. After Curry at the intended venue, it was back to check out the new business, hopefully not another Grill House. On entering, I was recognised by Zahir, whom I had first met at Karahi Palace, a friend of Chef Rashid. Then, Zahir was working at Sheerin Palace, now he was out on his own. Located at the corner of Cathcart Road and Govanhill Street, Shahi Mahal is at the eastern periphery of the concentration of Southside Curry Cafes.

Karahi Lamb was available, the definitive Curry which marks true Desi Cuisine from the Mainstream. One of my fellow diners has described the Lamb Karahi at Shahi Mahal as the best he’d ever had.

A classic Glasgow Curry Cafe, there is a range of ready-cooked Curry and Starters on display at the counter. Hector is working his way through these.
