Wandering through the Curry Paradise that exists between Psyri and Omonia, Taste of India was first discovered by Hector in 2015, soon after they had opened. That day, having just eaten, it was a matter of checking out the Fayre. Imagine the surprise when on returning the following year, Hector was recognised, and has been on every subsequent visit.
Taste of India is very much in what Curry-Heute class as a Curry Cafe. For a more upmarket experience, visit their other shop – Bollywood Masala (Fokionos 4, Athina 105 63) near Syntagma. Mein Host is always happy to talk customers through the various prepared Curry on display at the counter: Lamb Curry, Beef Curry, Daal Makhani, Aloo Gobi, Chana.
It is his lady who is the Chef, one feels that for the authentic Desi experience, this is where one must come. In 2020, when I described the Beef Curry as the best I have ever tasted, this was quite an accolade.
