Bier by Keesmann, Curry by Yadgar, Hospitality – Nina & Kenny

If Hector cannot get to Yadgar  for Curry, Yadgar will bring the Curry to Hector. – as someone may have said.

The second Barrel Party of 2015 sees The Curry Club assembled Chez Kenny. Other familiar faces would make up the Perfect Ten, or was it Eleven? Deutsche Pils does not rank highly in Hector’s Bier Rankings, too Perfumed for my palate. However there are exceptions, Pyraser (Pyras, Bayern) and Keesmann  (Bamberg, Bayern) do not make bad Bier, though the Keesmann Bock has become sweeter in recent times. Hector will be in Bamberg and Buttenheim for some Bocks at the end of the year, yay.

Nina remarked on Mags and Hector’s punctual arrival. One had to witness the build-up to The Tapping. The last time Kenny and Hector tapped a barrel we did not cover ourselves in glory, but Bier, when the tap blew out. Kenny was confident but we still waited for the arrival of Dr. Stan before the plunge. Success. Wait a minute, this Keesmann Barrel needs a flat screw on vent, only Hector has one and it was not here. Fortunately a sliding hand pump did the job. One Barrel, Two Taps.

There was no sign of Perfume from this Pils, Dry and Hoppy, no Sweet after-taste, this will do very nicely. It did.

Yadgar (148 Calder St., Govanhill, Glasgow, G42 7QP) do not deliver as a matter of course, however for an order of today’s magnitude there is an exception. Three Kilos of Boneless Goshat Karahi, Two Kilos of Goshat Karahi on-the-bone, One Portion of a Chicken Curry (Korma Mild) with Boiled Rice (apologies). Ten Chapattis to accompany, and some Spiced Onions. Total cost £135.00. Some wonder if Kenny prefers the Spiced Onions to the Curry? It was arranged with Shkoor that delivery would be after 16.30, on cue the Curry arrived. Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (15)Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (16)

It took Shkoor two trips to deliver the mass of food, all in unmarked large foil trays. It was only after Shkoor departed we could find all The Extras. Chapli Kebabs and the mysterious Potato Cakes were a bonus. Let’s not overlook the Salad with copious Black Olives.

The Mild Chicken Curry was for Ronnie who cannot handle Spice. The Chapli Kebab was the Spiciest thing he had ever put in his mouth, strangely he liked it. What are these things? –asked Steve. Chapli Kebabs. These are brilliant.

The Spiced Onions, Two Trays supplied, were remarked upon as being the best ever. No false colourings, just a Killer Spice Level. Kenny shared his Spiced Onions with The Company, thank you. The Spiciest Spiced Onions I’ve ever had – said Mein Host.

The presence of Starters put the Curry back an hour, time for Alan to join us after his return from F.C. Motherwell. The oven was working overtime, perfectly reheated Curry. This looked to be a lot of Curry, enough to satisfy everyone, twice.
Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (36)The Boneless Goshat Karahi looked to have a slightly Creamier Colour compared to the on-the-bone. The latter had the advantage of Bone Marrow – Sucky Bones. The Bones give the Karahi an Edge. Dr. Stan knows this, so do Kenny and Nina, and of course The Hector. This did not stop us sampling the Boneless for Quality Control purposes. The Boneless Diners admitted to trying – Dem Bones. Steve might convert one day. Whilst the Chapli Kebab had an instant Kick, the Karahi seemed Mild at first and then the Spice content built up, oh yes. The Flavours from this combination of Tender Lamb and Thick Masala are unequalled by any Glasgow Curry Venue. (Dr?) Ricky said he had not been to Yadgar in years, I would be surprised if he and Shona do not mosey back soon.
What is better than Yadgar Curry? More Yadgar Curry. And so everyone was able to go back up for seconds. As Kenny said-  I think we’ll be doing this again.

Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (49)Meanwhile Ronnie was serving himself. There was a Reddish Masala, a possible Chasni? I was permitted a taste, this had a Kick, how would Ronnie cope? Ronnie – I would not say it was a Korma, it wasn’t. It wasn’t a Chasni. Ronnie loved it, the Best Curry he had ever tasted.
The Real Curry Eaters had a few words to share:
Kenny – FID – Fantastic Flavour Intensity in Depth. It was great, it was lovely.
Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (40)Keesmann Curry-Heute.com (46)

Steve – My Curry was superb, I even tried the bones. An excellent Curry.
Mags – As far as Yadgar goes, that was the best ever. And thank you for the Starters which we weren’t expecting.
Tracey – After many visits to Yadgar this is what I expect Curry to taste like and we will be disappointed when it isn’t.

Howard – The Yadgar Curry Team were wearing their away kit today. This was a Yadgar Curry, plus. There was something different, not better, not worse.. There was depth, the spice, there was a creamy essence, a quintessence. It was a Yadgar Away Win.
Dr. Stan – I concur.
