Handi By Darbar – Glasgow – Scotland

The Southside is the home of Punjabi/Lahori – Desi Curry in Glasgow. Handi By Darbar was formally opened in February 2024, replacing the long established and much loved Karahi Palace.

The waterfront in Tradeston is the site of the massive Barclay’s Bank campus, a mere five minute walk across the River Clyde from Central Station. 

A block further south lies Handi By Darbar.

Moiz, son of Qadeer (Darbar Grill), was installed as Mein Host and Chef after the takeover in June 2023.

Moiz has been known to Hector since he was a boy, observed learning the trade under the direction of his father, Qadeer Ahmed. Qadeer is a highly regarded Chef dating back to his time at Sheerin Palace.  Moiz was clear that the quality of the fayre would be maintained, but there would be a re-branding. That Desi Curry would continue was verified by Hector in the early weeks of Moiz’s management. 

The premises have been transformed, however the layout remains as before: Takeaway and four tables at the ground-floor entrance, but maybe now there will added focus to the renovated larger dining area upstairs.
