Wakefield, not a town which the Hector gets to visit often. Nights have been spent here, but stop-offs are the norm. Bradford Curry in Wakefield. First visited in 2019, Syhiba was an immediate revelation. In subsequent visits, the pedigree was further established.

The mother shop – Syhiba – Sowerby Bridge, bye Bradford, also has connections with the much missed Sarina’s Curry Kitchen (Queensbury, Bradford). In 2026, Habib, Mein Host, related that his mother taught Sarina (Dawn) to cook, and everyone here in Wakefield. Hence the secrets of recreating the wonderful Punjabi Cuisine in the Bradford-style, and more, have been passed on.
Located close to Wakefield Kirkgate, or a brisk walk from Westgate train station, Syhiba, although outwith the town center, is easily accessible, and that it is worth the effort seeking it out. should be self-evident.

Given how busy Syhiba has been on every visit, it appears that Habib welcomes all of his customers with equal enthusiasm.
