Curry Cottage – Indian Restaurant & Bar – Glasgow

Curry Cottage – Indian Restaurant & Bar 91 Cambridge Street, Glasgow G3 6RU

Curry Cottage is located in the upper west side of Glasgow’s city centre, a block and a bit off Sauchiehall Street. Cowcaddens Subway station is nearby.

Curry Cottage opened in October, 2021. Pratap, Mein Host, and his lady reportedly ran The Wee Curry Shop around the corner which closed, during those difficult times, only to reopen in 2022, run by others.

The menu at Curry Cottage does not follow that of the typical British Indian Restaurant, here one finds Curry and other creations that may well be unique to this establishment. Authentic Indian homemade cuisines – is their proud claim, Desi/Apna is how this is recognised in these pages.

In addition to the main menu, rotating Specials are on offer. There is also a Pre Theatre Menu (£14.95).

Curry Cottage is open seven days a week: 14.00 on Sunday, 13.00 on Monday, otherwise, at noon, and remains open for the day. This particularly suits Hector’s preferred early afternoon eating pattern.

The extent to which Curry Cottage operates as a – bar –  remains to be established.

Visited twice soon after their opening, Marg declared the Keema Aloo to be the best she had ever encountered, and this is – her Curry. Strangely, the Hector did not return until 2024 when the Goat Meat (on the bone) was noted. The rest, is history in the making.
